Apple Butter Bars
While preparing to move a couple weeks ago I tried to use of most of the things in my fridge and freezer and found I still had one container of homemade apple butter in my freezer, that I made with our apples last fall. I found a way to use it by making apple butter bars with a cake mix base for the crust and topping, and apple butter in the filling.
1 white cake mix
1/3 c. butter, softened
2 c. apple butter
Cut the butter into the cake mix until it resembles crumbs then mix in the egg. Press 2/3 of the mixture into a greased 9×13″ pan. Spread the apple butter over the crust and sprinkle the remaining cake mix mixture over. Bake about 25 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
